How to borrow airtime and data from Airtel

Sometimes, we run out of airtime and data without any means of recharging. You might be in need to recharge but the circumstances are beyond what you can control, it could either be you’re broke and can’t afford airtime or you are stranded in a place where there is no means of getting airtime.

There is a solution to this problem and you don’t have to worry. This is why Airtel Nigeria has offered a quick solution, as a user you can borrow airtime or data using an airtel extra time credit code and repay upon your next recharge. However, there is usually a 25% service charge deduction on every credit loan you get with the exception of an N25 loan where the service charge is much lower

Eligibility requirement for borrowing on Airtel

  • Your SIM card must be registered
  • Your SIM card must have been active in the last three month
  • You must have recharge a minimum of N200 every month because the frequency of recharge is considered for eligibility status
  • You must have cleared every other pending loan in the past
  • You need to dial the borrow code and follow prompt instructions

How to borrow airtime from Airtel?

It is easier to borrow airtime from Airtel NG if you follow these processes;

  • Dial *500* (airtel borrow code), followed by the amount you wish to borrow then #. For instance, If you wish to borrow N200 credit from Airtel, you will need to dial *500*200#
  • You can also choose to dial only the borrow code then follow prompt instructions.
  • Afterward, you will get a message that your request is being processed if you’re eligible for the Airtime credits. And if you do not qualify, they will send a message saying you are not eligible for the request.
  • After a few minutes, you will be credited with N170 because a 15% service charge has been deducted.

How to borrow data from Airtel

Airtel NG also borrows its active user’s data pending the time they will make their next recharge. To borrow data from Airtel, follow the process below;

  • Dial Airtel borrow code (*500#)
  • Reply 3 to the prompt message
  • A list of data ranges will be displayed based on your eligibility
  • Select your choice of bundle

Note: data displayed could range as low as 10MB to 1TB depending on your eligibility status.

Why can’t I borrow credit from Airtel?

To borrow Airtime or data from airtel, you need to be a regular user of Airtel for at least 3 months and must have recharge up to N200 every month before you can be eligible to borrow from Airtel.

 

How do I repay Borrowed Airtel Credit or Data?

Paying back is much easier, all you have to do is to recharge your line with the amount of data or airtime that you borrowed. Once you’ve recharged, Airtel will automatically deduct the specific amount borrowed and your account balance will be cleared from the credit.
